Parklands Lodge marks World Alzheimer's Day

Parklands Lodge marked World Alzheimer's Day on Friday 21st September.

Residents from Parklands Lodge descended on Southport’s Ramada Plaza Hotel for an afternoon of reminiscence and of course, a delicious lunch with friends from Abbey Wood Lodge, Hesketh Park Lodge and Woodlands Lodge.

Led by supporters of Athena Healthcare Group, ex-Everton players Ian Snodin and Graham Stuart, residents enjoyed conversations about how various sports have changed over time with football the hot topic of the afternoon.

World Alzheimer’s Day falls on the 21st September each year and is part of a month-long campaign dedicated to raising awareness and challenging the stigma that surrounds dementia.

Parklands Lodge has purpose built facilities to provide a safe and responsive environment for its residents living with conditions such as Alzheimer’s or vascular dementia.

“Rooms are spotless and very comfortable. Lounge beautifully furnished, roomy, light. Food exceptional, freshly made, good choice of menu.Visitors can pre-order meals to have with residents. Visitors kitchen a bonus. Sunny aspect garden, relaxing. Manager fabulous. Nothing too much trouble, always time for chat- from a nursing profession he understands all aspects of nursing care. Staff friendly, caring, exceptional. Daily care received is excellent. Treated promptly, kindly and with respect at all times promoting independence. All staff work really hard, very dedicated and attentive. There is no place like home but this is second best! Always feel dad is well cared for and in a safe environment. This really gives us great comfort knowing he is receiving the very best care. We have looked at many nursing homes in the past for a relative and can honestly say that this seems to be the best in Southport. I would not hesitate to recommend Parkland Lodge to anyone. Keep up the good work! You are very much appreciated.”
